UNIT 3- Promotional Video Post-Production
When creating my chosen AV product for the Cultural Campaign, I decided to make a promotional video for the planned awards evening. This video will allow the candidates for the "Young Visual Artist of the Year' to introduce themselves and just speak about their passion for art, why they feel inspired to create art and where they draw their creativity from.
After receiving each of the artists footage, I uploaded the footage onto Sony Vegas editing software and began using the individuals art as visuals in between. Using the layers on Sony Vegas I placed the footage of the Nominee speaking on the 'Video' layer and the art they created on the "Video Overlay" layer. I then used the "Fade from transparent" transition on the art so that while the nominee was speaking their art would occasionally fade in and out of view, adding visual intrigue to the footage and demonstrating how their inspiration for art can be seen through the work they produce.
When editing the footage for the artist with a music video rather than a series of images, I used a slightly different approach. First I added in both footage of nominee speaking and of their music video, placing them on separate video and audio layers. After the nominee introduced themselves I faded to the beginning of the music video, I then played the song quietly the rest of the time they spoke as it faded in and out from the music video to them speaking again. This then ends so that once they've finished speaking the volume of the music video layer increases and the chorus of the song is played.
How I accomplished this was by cutting and pasting the part of the audio track I wanted to be louder, and then increased the volume manually by holding left click on the audio track and increasing the decibel count. The effect of this was allowing the viewer to both see the art they make and the music while also learning from their words why they create music and what inspired them to make the art the viewer is currently seeing.
This promotional video is used to demonstrate the personalities and the creativity of the nominees. Each are seen as young, vibrantly passionate people who enjoy creating art and making an impact on the world. This vitality and creativity then ensures these people can represent their city and show the world just how Liverpool creates and develops artists, drawing people to the region so they can meet these artists and see the incredible atmosphere they were raised in.
