P4/M3- Unit 3- Print Product Promotional Leaflet

This is the final design Print Product I have created, I created this utilising help from a customisable template in which I added photographs from the artist nominees and changed the formatting slightly to adapt to my text and the event I wish to create. I believe this matches the desired client brief as the vibrant pinks and modern look with sans serif font matches the desired aesthetic I wish this event to have, presenting Liverpool as a modern capital for cultural, having stayed the same since 2008 and kept the same passion and energy for the arts into the modern day, passed on to the younger generation.

P5/M4/D1 Unit 3- Promotional Video

UNIT 3- Promotional Video Post-Production

When creating my chosen AV product for the Cultural Campaign, I decided to make a promotional video for the planned awards evening. This video will allow the candidates for the "Young Visual Artist of the Year' to introduce themselves and just speak about their passion for art, why they feel inspired to create art and where they draw their creativity from.

After receiving each of the artists footage, I uploaded the footage onto Sony Vegas editing software and began using the individuals art as visuals in between. Using the layers on Sony Vegas I placed the footage of the Nominee speaking on the 'Video' layer and the art they created on the "Video Overlay" layer. I then used the "Fade from transparent" transition on the art so that while the nominee was speaking their art would occasionally fade in and out of view, adding visual intrigue to the footage and demonstrating how their inspiration for art can be seen through the work they produce.

When editing the footage for the artist with a music video rather than a series of images, I used a slightly different approach. First I added in both footage of nominee speaking and of their music video, placing them on separate video and audio layers. After the nominee introduced themselves I faded to the beginning of the music video, I then played the song quietly the rest of the time they spoke as it faded in and out from the music video to them speaking again. This then ends so that once they've finished speaking the volume of the music video layer increases and the chorus of the song is played.

How I accomplished this was by cutting and pasting the part of the audio track I wanted to be louder, and then increased the volume manually by holding left click on the audio track and increasing the decibel count. The effect of this was allowing the viewer to both see the art they make and the music while also learning from their words why they create music and what inspired them to make the art the viewer is currently seeing.

This promotional video is used to demonstrate the personalities and the creativity of the nominees. Each are seen as young, vibrantly passionate people who enjoy creating art and making an impact on the world. This vitality and creativity then ensures these people can represent their city and show the world just how Liverpool creates and develops artists, drawing people to the region so they can meet these artists and see the incredible atmosphere they were raised in.

M2 Unit 3- Legal and Ethical Issues for Planned Production

M2*: Legal and ethical issues are identified and resolved for the planned production

Potential Legal Issues

One issue we could encounter when planning the awards night would be regarding Copyright, and that artists are fully credited and compensated for their work. The solution to this is ensuring that each artist nominee earns a percentage of monetary profit from the event alongside the potential prize for winning the award itself.

Another legal consideration would be ensuring our permission to hold the event within the art gallery, able to properly rent out the space and close off certain sections so that people from the public who enter are attendees of the awards night and there to see the artists work and decide who they wish to vote for to win.

Potential Ethical Issues

Event runs into night, could be considered too late for many families to stay in town with their children or for the young artists to be out so late, this will require consideration of security and safeguarding to ensure that everyone attending the event feels safe and comfortable at the event and are can safely access their transport home.

P2/P4/M3 Unit 3- Artist Nominees

In preperation for the promotional video of the awards evening, I have reached out to a number of artists I know and asked if they would be willing to demonstrate their work and promote it acting as nominees for the award. These consist of artists who created their own work and so will be seen themselves, or work from artists I know who aren't confident enough to be filmed so I and other people I have asked have stood in for them and just put a different name and face to the artwork.

P4/M3 Unit 3- Photos taken from public

Shown above are my own pictures taken in public for use in the poster promotional material. These images are used to highlight both recognizable places in the Liverpool city but also vibrant, bustling environments which promote the city as both fun and iconic for creativity/artists.
When making the poster designs, I plan to make use of these photos as well as the work of artist nominees on the software Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign, aswell as create designs from templates on postermywall.com in order to have a tangible mould for my posters which I can edit and make unique rather than designing a poster from scratch.
I have also created thumbnails for the designs I am making entirely originally, as it allows me to visualise what I want the poster to look like and thus produce it effectively in a way which matches the desired aesthetic and vibe asked for in the brief; that of creativity and vitality within the local community about art.
